Cherkasova's attentiveness to transformation and identity draws primarily on Brutalism, to which she was exposed, growing up in a cold and industrial environment. She focuses on how people are transformed by inner conflicts and external environments, which appear as powerful symbols in her work, often combined with animal imagery to represent the wild and impulsive aspects of human instinct.
